Job Summary
ADRA Malawi is seeking passionate and qualified individuals to serve as Interns for its Non- Communicable Diseases (NCD) Project in the districts of Rumphi, Mangochi, Ntchisi and Lilongwe (T/A Kabudula). The successful candidates will play a key role in coordinating and supporting community-based project activities, working in collaboration with local leaders, support groups and other key stakeholders. The intern will contribute to the effective implementation of project interventions and help ensure long-term sustainability of NCD prevention and management initiatives at the community level.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a Diploma in Nursing or Diploma in Clinical Technician from a recognized institution.
- Good knowledge of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), especially diabetes.
- Ability to accurately collect, record, and report medical data.
- Proven ability to work effectively in team settings, especially within communities.
- Strong communication skills, particularly when engaging with patients, families, and community members.
- Must be a resident of the district where they are applying to serve (Rumphi, Mangochi, Kabudula or Ntchisi).
- Demonstrated interest in community health and the prevention and management of NCDs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in screening, identifying, and registering individuals with Type 1 Diabetes.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients and families on diabetes management.
- Support patients in adhering to medication schedules and attending clinical appointments.
- Collect and compile data on project-related activities for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Support community outreach and awareness campaigns on NCD prevention and management.
- Assist in coordinating NCD support groups and engaging with stakeholders at community level.
- Work closely with district health offices, local leaders, and relevant committees to ensure effective implementation of project activities.
