INTERNAL AUDITOR
Reports To: Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Manager
Umodzi Holdings Limited (UHL) was incorporated under Companies Act on 18th May 2012. UHL is 100% owned by the Government of the Republic of Malawi. UHL is currently managed as a highly prestigious domestic brand under the name ‘Umodzi Park and Resorts’ (UPR) and has the following properties at the heart of Malawi’s Capital City of Lilongwe which form part of its business establishment:
- Umodzi Park which comprises the magnificent Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), Banqueting Hall, a 5-star hotel comprising 130 rooms and presidential suites; and
- The Presidential Village comprising 14 world class presidential villas which offer unique accommodation and office rental facilities.
UHL seeks to urgently engage energetic, result oriented, suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant position tenable in Lilongwe;
Role Overview:
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for conducting thorough internal audits to assess the organization’s financial, operational, and compliance processes. The role is essential in ensuring the company’s adherence to relevant policies, industry standards, and regulations. The Internal Auditor shall provide insights and recommendations to mitigate risks, improve processes, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
RESIDENT HOTEL
- Undertake internal audits to ensure the company meets its financial, operational, and compliance objectives.
- Report on control deficiencies to management and make recommendations to mitigate risk and add value
- Analyse and challenge existing company processes to identify areas for enhancement, promoting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Actively participate in the development, maintenance, and review of company policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date with current legislation, industry standards, and best practices, while supporting the company’s strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Business Studies, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as an Internal Auditor in a busy and fast-paced environment, preferably in the hospitality or corporate sector.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately assess and evaluate risks, while developing and implementing effective solutions to mitigate them.
- Proven ability to produce clear, concise, and comprehensive audit reports. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, especially when working with tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with various departments and senior management. The ability to explain complex audit findings in a clear and actionable manner is crucial.
