African Parks (AP) is a non-profit organisation that takes on direct responsibility for rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas, in partnership with governments and local communities. By adopting a business approach to conservation, supported by donor funding, African Parks aims to make each park sustainable in the long-term, thereby contributing to economic development and poverty alleviation. Currently African Parks in Malawi manages Majete Wildlife Reserve, Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserves and Liwonde National Park.

African Parks – Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve invites suitably qualified, experienced and passionate Malawians to fill the following vacant position.

Position: INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

Reporting to: Park Analyst/Head of Law Enforcement
Location: Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Gathering information and uncover criminal activities in line with park Information Requirements (IRs) and Intelligence Collection Plan (ICP)
  • Handling informants and sensitive information
  • Compiling simple Human Terrain Analysis in the work area
  • Tasking the sources based on IRs.
  • Create maps using intelligence information systems and GIS software
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of NWR LE Strategy Interact with key law enforcement stakeholders.
  • Carry out all tasks within the law and in accordance with the Unit’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Security Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Ability to work well with a culturally diverse team and exhibit high diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to live and work full-time in a rural setting.
  • Preparing intelligence reports
    Carry out any other duties as requested by the Head of the Unit within the framework of the role.

Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
  • Must have an investigation certificate
  • Experience in law enforcement and conservation is a must.
  • Proficiency in Chichewa and English
  • Must be computer literate
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work calmly and quickly under pressure.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to dynamic situations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter and ready to work in rural areas
  • Ability to learn quickly
