National Water Resources Authority (NWRA)

The National Water Resources Authority (NWRA) is a statutory organization established by the Water Resources Act of 2013 with a specific function to regulate and manage water resources.

Furthermore, the NWRA seeks to ensure the sustainable use of water resources and address the water resources planning, development, and management challenges. In its effort to sustainably manage water resources, the NWRA seeks to recruit members of staff. In this regard, NWRA invites applications from suitably, qualified, and experienced persons to fill the following vacant position:

Job Title: Inspection Officer

Department: Regulatory Services

Grade: NW5

Responsible to : Senior Inspections Officer

Purpose of the Job

To facilitate the inspection and enforcement processes.

Key Duties

  1. Ensure that licences are inspected and monitored as per standard operating procedure.
  2. Inspect water resources users to verify if the volume abstracted is in accordance with licence.
  3. Make follow ups with industries to ascertain that the effluent discharged is not harmful.
  4. Collect water samples for further inspection by laboratory.
  5. Ensure water users and water resources undertakings comply with Water Resources Act Conducting regular investigations to assess compliance to set standards in water resource management and development.
  6. Preparing inspection reports and analysing inspections data
  7. Preparing and revising the inspection checklists and inspector’s manual
  8. Reviewing the Water Resources Regulations to align with current and international recommended practices.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Water resource Management or Engineering or Related field.
  • Minimum of (2) two years experience in water resources sector or in inspectorate regime.
