Program: Building Education Foundations Through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) Program
Location: Lilongwe/ Ntcheu
Reports To: District Coordinator
Job Overview:
The ICT Officer for the BEFIT Program will play a critical role in supporting the integration of innovative technologies to enhance educational foundations. The incumbent will be responsible for
managing the program’s ICT infrastructure, providing technical support, and ensuring the effective use of technology in program activities. This role involves working closely with educators, program
staff, and stakeholders to ensure that technology solutions align with the program’s educational objectives and goals.
Core responsibilities:
ICT Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee and maintain the program’s ICT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and communication systems.
- Ensure the continuous operation, security, and efficiency of the ICT systems used in the program.
- Manage data storage, backup, and recovery processes to protect program data.
Technical Support:
- Provide timely technical support to program staff, educators, and other stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues as they arise.
- Train staff and educators on the use of ICT tools and platforms implemented in the program.
Educational Technology Integration:
- Support the integration of innovative educational technologies into the program’s curriculum and activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of digital learning resources and tools.
- Work with educators to ensure that technology is effectively used to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
System Administration:
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls for all ICT systems.
- Monitor system performance and implement upgrades or changes as needed.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and data protection regulations.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with the program team to plan and execute ICT-related projects and initiatives.
- Manage ICT-related budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for procurement and maintenance of ICT resources.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of ICT assets and ensure regular inventory checks.
- Generate reports on ICT usage, performance, and any issues encountered.
- Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data using ICT tools.
Innovation and Research:
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in educational technology and ICT.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend improvements to enhance the program’s ICT capabilities.
- Participate in research and pilot projects to explore new ICT tools and methods that can benefit the program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ICT management, preferably in an educational or programmatic context.
- Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting ICT systems, including networks, hardware, and software.
- Experience with educational technology platforms and digital learning tools is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in training or capacity-building for ICT users, especially in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
- Ability to manage ICT projects within budget and time constraints.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional travel to project sites and partner institutions.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours as needed to support program activities
