VACANCY-INCUBATION PROGRAM
With support from the Africa Development Bank, Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change through the Department of Fisheries is implementation a five year Sustainable Fisheries, Aquaculture Development and Watershed Management (SFAD-WM) project. The project aims to contribute towards poverty reduction through improved fish commodity value chains strengthening, increased consumption of fish, strengthened nutritional security and build climate resilience in Malawi. One of the focus areas of the project is the implementation of Aquaculture Entrepreneurs Incubation Program where it is expected to train at least 300 practicing and nonpracticing fish farmers in fish farming during the period of the project. The aim of this focus area is to develop sustainable commercially interlinked aquaculture enterprises and related value chain players in the aquaculture sector. The Department of Fisheries is therefore inviting applications from interested individuals from Mwanza, Nsanje, Thyolo, Chikwawa, Mulanje and Blantyre to join the aquaculture incubation programme at Kasinthula Aquaculture Centre in Chikwawa. The programme is expected to begin in September 2022 and will run for a period of 4 weeks. Training modules to be covered during the incubation period include:
1. Establishing Culture Facility (pond, and tank construction)
2. Fish seed production
3. Fish nutrition (feed & feeding, fish health and feed production)
4. Bio-security and Disease Control
5. Fish Harvesting, Fish post-harvest handling and Marketing
Qualifications and Experience
– Applicants should be able to read and write in English and Chichewa or have a minimum
of Junior Certificate.
– Applicants must show willingness to venture into aquaculture investment.
– Applicants must submit a business plan for the chosen aquaculture component investment,
maximum 2 pages in English or Chichewa
– Should be aged between 18 and 50 years.
– Women and youths are encouraged to apply
