Bickia Enterprises

Bickia enterprises are budding companies in agribusiness (Bickia Horticulture Enterprises, with farms in Mchinji and Salima) and soon commencing operations in cement production (Bickia Cement). The two companies would like to employ the positions listed below all based in Lilongwe. The cement related positions are in anticipation of Bickia Cement obtaining a mining licence. The agribusiness company is already in operation.

 

 

Job Description
Job Title:

ICT Officer

 

Reports to:

Chief Executive Officer

 

Role Purpose:

To support the Enterprises in all ICT issues and ensure high delivery of ICT services that capture and enable the storage and processing of data. This will include trouble shooting and leadig and managing ICT projects.

Role and Responsibilities

 

Systems management:

·         Consult with systems users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.

·         Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades to line manager.

·         Data storage and Backup services research and Implementation

·         Develop and implement ICT annual plan and Standard Operating Procedures;

·         Design and implement a disaster recovery plan with emphasis on data storage, security and backup services.

·         Lead IT security initiatives, user awareness and compliance

 

Support services:

·         Provide client support and technical issue resolution

·         Provide End-User support for all Bickia applications.

·         Ensure ICT services are accessible and equipped with current hardware and software

·         Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate and ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal

·         Ensure ICT inventory for the Office is up to date.

 

Security:

·         Ensure IT Security awareness and best practices.

·         Carry out routine checks on electronic equipment in order to prevent their damage due to improper connections and operations or adverse acts of computer virus

·         Provide systems security: Network, Internet, Information and IT systems access control

·         Maintain physical security to ICT equipment and offices

 

 

 

Network administration:

·         Ensure a stable and responsive network performance and network environment;

·         Trouble-shoot and monitor network problems.

·         Ensure that Bickia IT infrastructure is protected from malicious virus attacks and deploy countermeasures in the event of the attacks;

·         Respond to user needs and questions regarding network access.

·         Implement backup and restoration procedures for local drives. Maintain backup logs.

·         Maintain measures for business continuity and disaster recover processes and procedures including backup and restoration of both server and local storage facilities;

·         Manage access controls for all network devices.

 

Capacity building:

·         Identify training needs

·         User capacity building in ICT

·         Develop training materials.

 

Hardware support:

·         Instal, operate and maintain hardware equipment and supplies;

·         Perform specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components (disks, memories, network wiring, power sources, etc.) and routine repairs;

·         Instal commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades, anti-virus programs on a timely basis.

·         Data protection of flash drives and disk and remove of data from computers

 

Web management services:

·         Support to the maintenance of Bickia site and Intranet;

·         Trouble-shoot and monitor the site.

Administrative support:

·         Advise on and assist in procurement of ICT equipment, provide technical specifications and information on best options, and review quotations and bids;

·         Maintain an up-to-date inventory of Bickia software and hardware;

·         Provide ICT support to key events.

·         Support end users in resolving IT issues in an efficient and timely fashion

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or relevant field

 

 

Experience And Skills

  • Three years’ experience at officer level; or 2 years at officer level and 1 year at senor assistant level
  • Familiarity with Windows and MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), LAN/WAN infrastructures (routers, modems, switches, etc.); trouble shooting and administering a Microsoft Windows based network (LAN) and servers; good working knowledge of Windows server and domain system configuration, antivirus software for workstations and servers etc.
  • Good communication skills, ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability and experience of training end users or staff
