I.T. SYSTEMS AUDITOR

Location: Head Office

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing audit tests in line with the audit programs and the annual internal audit plans. This includes investigations, spot checks, snap checks and follow-up audits.
  • Preparation of audit working papers and audit schedules for storage of audit evidence.
  • Checks existing controls on each audit to establish whether management has put in place adequate controls to mitigate the identified risks.
  • Identifies control weaknesses and anomalies and highlighting the same to management for corrective action to be taken through the testing of controls on a yearly basis.
  • Makes recommendations to the control weaknesses in order to mitigate against new emerging risks and prevent there-occurrence of issues.
  • Prepares an audit report through the compilation of all internal control weaknesses in order to obtain management comments on how they would rectify them.
  • Discusses the IT audit findings with the Head of IT in order to find ways of managing risks.
  • Submits draft report to the IT Audit Supervisor for review within 2 days after completion of audit assignment.

Other Essential Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Performs audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting the group’s processes and procedures for I.T. related areas.
  • Identifying, developing, and documenting audit issues and recommendations for improvement using independent judgment concerning I.T. systems being reviewed.
  • Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and sharing of information gained with co-workers.
  • Performs related work as assigned by audit management from time to time.

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A Degree Information Technology or Business Information Systems
  • Three years of full-time experience in internal auditing or external auditing in LT. systems.
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing to I.T. systems
  • Knowledge of industry program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Knowledge of contemporary risk management, control, and control frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the common indicators of fraud.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Skill in negotiating issues and resolving problems.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, systems documentation to prepare working papers, reports, memos, summaries, and analyses.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and skill in presenting findings and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious team-oriented working relationships with co-workers and external contacts, and work effectively in a professional team environment.
