Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.
DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions for the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project which is to be implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts aiming at strengthening access to high quality and comprehensive services targeting adolescent and young people through Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Program under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a project called “Loto Langa” or “LoLa” in short.
The program includes several layers of interventions including Direct service delivery of HIV Testing and Family planning and condom promotion and distribution to for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), Social asset building and HIV Violence prevention of AGYW, Economic strengthening and educational support, Families Matter Program and Implementing the IMPower Program.
Reports to Head of Human Resources
The Human Resources Officer will have high attention to detail, sensitively and ethically handles all matters brought to the attention of HR office, team player with the ability to multi-task with minimal error. He/she will be responsible to give optimal assistance to Human Resource department and support its successful implementation of DAPP Malawi programs. The position holder must be willing and ready to discharge all his/her duties with high professionalism which includes observation of work ethics at all times.
Key Performance Areas
  • Distributes, collects, checks and submits timesheets for signing and implements proper filing system for them and keeps it up to date
  • Updates an employee file checklist and submitting of the same
  • Assists in implementing a central filing system and administrative capacity that comply with general administrative, country labour and DAPP Malawi policy
  • Scans important documents into each employee file following a proper system and administrative capacity that comply with general administrative, country labour law and DAPP Malawi Policy.
  • Opening, maintaining and updating employee files with all important and required documents.
  • Assist with staff recruitment, new-employee orientation, employee relations counselling and exit interviewing in-line with DAPP Malawi Policy.
  • Assist in preparation of disciplinary and grievance matters that arise and ensuring they are handled and communicated sensitively and in accordance with internal policy and Malawian Labour Law
  • Assisting in keeping a current file/data based with over view showing the distribution of all DAPP policies and signing of having received them by employees.
  • Assist in coordinating HR meetings. Lobby for agenda items and generate minutes of the meetings. Maintain the meeting file updated.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualification and Experience
  • Diploma in Human Resource Management or related field
  • At least recent 2 years’ hands on experience in Human Resource Department, especially in donor -funded organizations or have worked in DAPP Malawi projects before.
  • Have a strong background in donor organizations and understand difference donor requirements and procedures
  • Good grasp of the current issues pertaining to labor and employment issues in Malawi
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, effective team player and demonstrated verifiable result-oriented track record
  • Be a good mix of abilities between task orientation and interpersonal/ relationship sensitivity.
  • Must be sympathetic to the needs of others while retaining focus on goal attainment
  • Strict adherence to deadlines and ability to prioritize conflicting responsibilities
