Luke International (LIN)

Luke International (LIN) is an independent non-governmental organization that has been working with the Government of the Republic of Malawi (GoM) in HIV and AIDS, TB and related health issues in the health sector to improve health information systems since 2009. LIN\u2019s mission is to promote activities that increase local human capacity and technical competence for providing HIV and AIDS care and support and advocate people to attain universal health coverage goals in Malawi. LIN is collaborating with the Ministry of Health, implementing partners, academic institutions, and hospitals, community-based organizations and international/domestic partners to provide ongoing technical assistance and implement digital health and information technology programs.

Luke International invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill exciting and challenging position of Human Resource Assistant in Mzuzu.

 

 

HUMAN RESOURCE ASSISTANT

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Human Resource Assistant shall assist to perform the human resource function of Luke International. He/she shall assist to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective human resource services reporting to the HR Committee.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To assist with providing HR support to all business units across all HR functions and disciplines including performance management, recruitment, staffing, learning and development, dispute resolution, performance monitoring, welfare management and retention of staff.

  • Assist to process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc)
  • Assist to coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc) and take minutes
  • Assist to develop and audit policies and procedures relating to staff in order to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
  • Assist to maintain and update internal database and files on human resource files, records, and documentation in a confidential and secure manner;
  • Assist to answer frequently asked questions from applicants, and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Assist with payroll functions by providing relevant data (absences, timesheets bonus, leaves, etc) answering employee questions and fixing processing errors,
  • Assists to act as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health plan providers.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrolment, organization-wide meetings and employee recognition events.

MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources or related fields.
  • 3 years post qualification experience
  • Work well both independently with limited management direction and within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Respect for Diversity, Integrity and professionalism
  • Awareness and sensitivity for Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
  • Accountability, creative problem solving
  • Inclusive Collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong knowledge of Malawi Employment legislations, labor laws and Human Resource policies.
