BACKGROUND

As part of its expansion drive, Farmers World Limited wishes to recruit suitably qualified persons to fill the following existing vacancies, which are tenable at its Farmers World Head Office, Kanengo, Lilongwe.

HSE Officer

Reports to HSE Manager
Direct subordinates None

Job Purpose

Responsible for promotion of health and safety in the workplace and co-ordinating accident prevention and health and safety measures within the Business Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice, information, and instruction on internal OSHE issues.
  • Assisting in the application of OSHE procedures.
  • Helping manage risks and hazards in the business.
  • Reporting and investigating incidents, injuries and hazards and implement agreed control measures.
  • Reviewing and analysing injury and incident reports and data.
  • Implementing injury and incident prevention strategies in the business.
  • Ensuring that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Managing and devising the agenda for, formulating & distributing minutes for the Health & Safety Committee meetings. Ensuring that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
  • Preparing various reports, documents, and forms.
  • Conducting daily toolbox talks
  • Performing other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Experience, Minimum Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Degree in Environmental Health or related field with 2 years of minimum experience or;
  • Degree in Social Sciences with minimum of 3 years with proven experience in Occupational Safety Health and Environmental (OSHE) Industry.
