Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.
DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions for the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project which is to be implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts aiming at strengthening access to high quality and comprehensive services targeting adolescent and young people through Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Program under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a project called “Loto Langa” or “LoLa” in short.
The program includes several layers of interventions including Direct service delivery of HIV Testing and Family planning and condom promotion and distribution to for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), Social asset building and HIV Violence prevention of AGYW, Economic strengthening and educational support, Families Matter Program and Implementing the IMPower Program.

Reports to Senior Health Promoter
Job summary/ responsibilities:
The Health Promoter will work in the catchment areas surrounding the targeted Health Facilities and be responsible for community mobilization, mapping, and identification of AGYW for enrolment in DREAMS program. Furthermore, they will liaise with and supervise the work of AGYW club facilitators in delivering the DREAMS Package and social services in targeted communities of Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts. They will collaborate with the project team at Health Facilities, key stakeholders, traditional and faith leaders in communities surrounding the targeted health facilities (FHs) on issues related to DREAMS project activities.
Key Performance Areas
The Health Promoter is expected to do the following tasks, not limited to planning, reporting, coordination, collaborate with other service providers and supervision of the DREAMS facilitators through;
  • Providing day to day leadership to Community actors implementing DREAMS project activities in the communities surrounding the targeted HFs
  • Supervising mentor and support the activities being implemented by the Community actors.
  • Spearheading, coordinating and organizing DREAM outreach activities
  • Collaborating with other community actors and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring linkage and referral system is functioning properly at the community and Health Facility level by working jointly with HIV Diagnostic Assistants and Linkage Nurses
Qualification and Experience
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education as a minimum
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in community work
  • Team player, builder, coordinator of activities in a complex environment and flexible to work under time pressure.
  • Good organiser and communicator with high level of facilitation skills.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate program progress using designated tools
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, at all times.
  • Should be able to demonstrate ability to collaborate with people of different backgrounds and different literacy levels
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including a good track record of report writing; a high level of written and spoken English and Chichewa is expected
  • Results oriented with good skills in long term planning – foreseeing pitfalls and finding solutions within the given timeframe
  • Ability to mentor community actors with skills and practical knowledge of participatory methodologies.
  • Willing to work long hours toward the attainment of project objectives and deliverables
  • Those who successfully worked with DREAMS/HTS/YFHS/GBV and AGYW Projects will have an added advantage.
  • Able to use and in possession of motorbike driving license.
  • Ready to start work at short notice
