Job Purpose

To coordinate research in a manner that ensures that quality control, regulations and procedures are strictly adhered to and high academic standards are maintained.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Leading initiatives to expand University’s scholarly productivity and increase research funding

  2.  Providing leadership in the development, review, sensitization, and implementation of University Consultancy, Innovation and Technology Transfer policies

  3. Serving as the Chief Research Officer for the University, ensuring compliance with national and university policies governing university-sponsored research

  4. Serving in relevant committees of the Council

  5. Providing support  for  faculty  and students to engage in research, scholarly investigations, and creative activities as well as recognition of outstanding student and faculty scholarship and creativity through awards programs, research forums and conferences, and publications

  6. Developing effective and efficient technology transfer strategies and policies

  7. Managing invention disclosures and inventions from all areas in the University

  8. Overseeing all proposals for external funding for research

  9. Participating in the negotiations of funding proposals as needed

  10. Leading strategic planning efforts with regards to research, scholarship, and student research assistantships

  11. Overseeing the planning and implementation of faculty and student research and scholarly activity events, and the management of research/funding opportunities for graduate students

  12. Collaborating with the Schools, Academic Departments, and other stakeholders in the University to maintain and increase graduate student persistence

  13. Serving as a liaison with University leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to research activities for faculty and students

  14. Preparing reports

Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience

  1. PhD

  2. 7 years’ experience at senior academic level
