TEVETA

The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) Authority is a regulatory body that was established in 1999 by an Act of Parliament with the mandate to regulate, facilitate and promote TEVETin Malawi. Apart from the Secretariat in Lilongwe, the Authority has three regional service centres in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre.

Employment opportunities have now risen within the Authority for various positions for which the Authority invites applications from qualified candidates.

HEAD OF PROJECTS MANAGEMENT
The Head of Projects Management requires a person who will be responsible for the development, management and coordination of TEVET donor funded projects ensuring consistency with donors and TEVETA guidelines.

KEY DUTIES

a) Strategic Project Leadership

  • Develop and implement project management strategies aligned with Authority goals.
  • Collaborates with Government departments and development partners in development programming in line with Government development plans and strategies
  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee the planning, execution and completion of projects within scope, on time and within budget.

b) Resource Mobilization and Optimization

  • Plan and design comprehensive donor funded TEVET development programs to upscale TEVET funding and delivery
  • Manage project resources effectively, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization.
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks and challenges.
  • Implement best practices for resource planning and utilization.

c) Performance Metrics and Reporting

  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPls) for project management success.
  • Provide regular reports to executive leadership on project status, milestones, and key accomplishments.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement and lessons learned.

d) Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other departmental heads to align project management efforts with Authority objectives.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between the project teams and stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between project teams and executive leadership.

e) Budget Management

  • Manage the Projects budget
  • Lead in the development of annual plans and related budget estimates including the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual implementation reports in respect of the TEVET Authority’s programs.
  • Produce plans and budgets for the division to ensure effective delivery of activities.

f) Team leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Project staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Planning, the Head of Projects Management shall have direct responsibility for the following officers:

a) Projects Management Specialists

The position requires a person with the following attributes and skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of project management methodologies and best practices
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong understanding and commitment to international development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, including and ability to conduct business at the highest level of Government and development partners.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Social Sciences or Business Administration or related qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Social Science or Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
