Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position tenable at MUBAS Head OfficeinBlantyre.

The Head of Internal Audit shall be responsible to the Council functionally and to the Vice-Chancellor administratively. He/she shall provide an independent and objective assurance on the efficacy of control systems, corporate governance, risk management and value addition interventions.


a) Developing, reviewing, implementing, and monitoring internal audit and risk management policies, plans, strategies, programmes, systems and procedures.

b) Reviewing and advising on the effectiveness and adequacy of financial and operational systems and procedures.

c) Setting, developing and monitoring compliance with internal control procedures, systems, statutory rules and regulations.

d) Identifying key risk areas in consultation with Management and advising on appropriate interventions.

e) Conducting performance and investigative audits in liaison with relevant stakeholders.

f) Collaborating with external auditors on audit matters.

g) Undertaking pre-audit and post-audit of financial, stores and personnel records as may be required.

h) Following up on audit queries to ensure audit observations are properly and adequately addressed.

i) Preparing reports and servicing relevant committees.

The candidate must have the following:

  • An earned relevant Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in internal auditing, accountancy or finance
  • CIA
  • Those with ACCA or other similar professional qualifications may be considered
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A bonafide member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (Malawi)
