Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of local Malawian cuisine, as well as proficiency in continental dishes. We are looking for a creative leader who can elevate our menu offerings, enhance guest experiences, and ensure the highest standards of food quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Menu Development: Create and update diverse menus that highlight traditional Malawian flavors while incorporating international cuisine, emphasizing seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients.

• Culinary Leadership: Manage and inspire a team of chefs and kitchen staff; provide training, mentorship, and support to foster culinary skills and teamwork.
• Quality Control: Ensure that all dishes served meet the hotel’s standards for presentation, taste, and quality. Conduct regular tasting sessions and provide feedback accordingly.
• Food Safety: Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with health regulations, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment.
• Innovation: Continuously seek new culinary trends and techniques to enhance menu offerings and improve kitchen efficiency.
• Cost Management: Manage Kitchen budgets, including food costs, labour, and inventory to ensure
• Guest Interaction: Engage with guest to gather feedback and customize dining experiences, fostering a welcoming and personalized atmosphere.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen, preferably within the hotel industry.
• Extensive knowledge of local cuisine and a solid understanding of international culinary techniques
• Culinary Degree or equivalent certification is
• Strong leadership and team management skills with a passion for culinary excellence and innovation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
