The United Nations in Malawi is looking for a creative Graphic Designer with at least two years of experience in editing and graphic design to provide graphic design services. The objective is to produce a visually appealing and engaging report of the 2023 UN Annual Country Results Report for Malawi.

Duties and Responsibilities
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) supports the UN Resident Coordinator (RC) in their role to work with UN entities to improve the impact, efficiency, and effectiveness of the UN’s operational activities for development at the country level. As designated representative of the UN Secretary-General, the RC in Malawi leads and strategically positions the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in support of national priorities, development strategies, and plans. The UNRCO in Malawi provides inter-agency coordination support to the UN Country Team (UNCT) and its various sub-groups (Programme Management Team – PMT, Operations Management Team – OMT and UN Communications Group – UNCG). The support includes strategic planning, programme and operations management, policy guidance, data management and results reporting as well as knowledge management, advocacy, and communications – all seeking to enhance UN coherence and improve overall programme impact to better achieve development results. Under the supervision of the Head of RCO and Strategic Planner:
- The Graphic Designer will efficiently employ creativity, functionality, and technology to design and produce an eye-catching and informative 2023 UN Annual Country Results Report for Malawi in the appropriate style and layout.
- The individual contractor will collaborate with the Data, Results Monitoring and Reporting Officer and the Communications Officer to select photos and incorporate tables, indexes, maps, infographics, and graphs. The final document is expected to be between 30 and 40 pages.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university (master’s degree or equivalent) in Literature, social Sciences, Arts, or related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
- Two years of relevant professional experience in graphic design is required.
- Ability to design full reports and similar documents, and create infographics, charts, tables to be integrated into the designed version, and create a good experience blend of the core reporting narrative, story sidebars and photos.
- Strong practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, Final Cut HD, web design tools such as Dreamweaver and Flash, etc. is required.
- At least 3 examples of previous works to be listed is required.
