CARE Malawi has secured funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, locally titled ‘Tiwoloka’. The funding runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2029. CARE Malawi will implement the project in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationists in
Malawi (FAWEMA) and Water Aid.
Therefore, CARE Malawi seeks to recruit well qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions within its USDA funded McGovern dole Food for Education program i.e. Tiwoloka Project in Malawi:
GOVERNMENT SCHOOL FEEDING LIASION MANAGER
Position Description
The Government School Feeding Liaison will serve as a critical link between CARE Malawi, government ministries, local authorities, and other stakeholders. The role involves building strong partnerships, aligning program objectives with national policies, and ensuring effective communication and coordination to support the implementation of school feeding programs in targeted districts.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Act as the primary point of contact between CARE Malawi and government ministries such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Agriculture.
- Facilitate regular meetings and consultations with government officials to ensure alignment with project goal.
- Support the integration of the school feeding program into national frameworks and policies and with the GoM school feeding alliance
- Develop the Terms of Reference for Malawi School Feeding Alliance
- Coordinate establishment and operations of the Malawi School Feeding Alliance
- Support the School feeding and other technical teams for effective implementation of the Tiwoloka activities, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with government regulations and CARE standards.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor the program’s progress, assess challenges, and provide feedback to both CARE and government stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance to government partners at both the national and district levels to strengthen their capacity in managing, creating ownership and monitoring school feeding programs in sustainability aspect.
- Advocate for increased government support and budget allocation for school feeding programs at both the district and national levels.
- Prepare regular reports on program activities, challenges, and successes for both CARE Malawi and government stakeholders.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Education, Nutrition, Social Sciences, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in development, education, or nutrition programs, with a focus on school feeding or food security.
- Prior experience working with government entities and familiarity with government structures and processes in Malawi.
- Experience in managing partnerships and coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community groups
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to present data and reports clearly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with monitoring and evaluation systems.
