1. Introduction:
TCGT Properties is a Malawian company that is wholly owned and registered under the Business Registration Act (No.12of2012). It was established in the year 2018 with the intent of selling plots, renting construction equipment, manufacturing Hollow Cement Blocks, mining, and managing properties.
TCGT Properties seeks to fill the open position of General Manager to support the upward trajectory of the company.
2. Role Description:
Title: General Manager
Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Reports To: Managing Director
Direct Reports:
- Production Manager
- Accountant
- Sales & Marketing Executive
- Operations officer
3. Objectives of this role
- Develop strategic plan for optimized productivity
- Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivational work environment, and implementing innovative changes
- Adhere to company standards for excellence and quality
- Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships
- Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas
- Oversee preparation of monthly financial reports, including monthly management accounts and conduct variance analysis.
- Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
4. Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations, assign weekly performance goals and ensure their completion, and accomplish your own goals
- Work closely with the Production Manager to optimize production schedules and resource allocation.
- Partner with the Sales and Marketing Executive to align production capabilities with sales forecasts and customer requirements.
- Implement quality control processes and address any quality issues that arise
- Be the main link for liaison with banks and auditors
- Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively
- Develop, implement, and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans
- Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values
- Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of all involved
- Oversee operations for plant hire division
- Coordinate activities and report on mining activities
- Ensure proper KPIs are developed corresponding with the department’s annual objectives and timely performance appraisal are conducted for the team members.
- Coach and mentor direct reports
5. Required skills and qualifications
- Proven success in a managerial role
- Strong decision-making ability
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
- Proven ability to develop and achieve financial plans
- Ability to motivate and lead employees, and hold them accountable
- Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
6. Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position or related
- Preferable experience in construction or manufacturing industry
- Working knowledge of human-resources processes
- Proven experience in networking, public relations, communications, advocacy, and new business development
