Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) was established by Chapter 18:09 of the Laws of Malawi in 1966 as a Humanitarian Organization, with established presence in all 29 districts. It is a government sub-vented organization with a mandate of proving relief aid to people affected by conflict and disasters throughout Malawi suffering and is among the lead agencies in the delivery of vulnerable communities. MRCS is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and executes its mandate through the principles of the Movement and the Movement’s Fundamental Principles.

MRCS is urgently seeking to engage the services of suitably qualified, motivated, capable, and experienced individuals to fill the vacant positions which have emerged in its various districts. The positions are listed as follows:

Gender and Protection Officer (1) Chikwana.

The primary responsibility of the Gender and Protection Officer is to coordinate all aspects of the MRCS’s gender & protection activities. The post will provide leadership and guidance for the MRCS’s activities in this area and will assist in building the capacity of all staff to include gender protection in field and volunteer activities. The Officer is responsible for the effective monitoring and evaluation of all gender and protection activities and projects.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field plus 3 years post qualification experience.
