Applications are invited from knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled candidates to fill the position of Financial Reporting Analyst at FMBcapital Holdings in Blantyre, Malawi.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Financial Reporting (Group) and will analyze financial data and trends and create financial reports for decision support.

Key Responsibilities

 

 

Support the Head of Financial Reporting (Group) in the following areas:

  • Consolidating the Group’s income statement, statement of financial position, and cash flow information on a monthly basis;
  • Managing the monthly close, monitoring regulatory and stock exchange submissions and ensuring all deadlines are met;
  • Managing intercompany reconciliations to ensure all intercompany balances and transactions eliminate each month;
  • Preparing half-year and full-year externally reported financial statements and providing the financial information necessary to support press publications;
  • Providing a Centre of Excellence for Financial Accounting and Reporting matters including, but not limited to, the implementation of new reporting standards and financial instruments recognition, measurement and related disclosures;
  • Managing financial accounting and reporting aspects of foreign subsidiaries and subsidiaries in hyperinflationary economy;
  • Maintaining financial accounting and reporting policies and procedures across the Group that reflect the requirements of IFRS as applied by the Group; and
  • Working closely with Group Finance Systems to identify improvements to data structures to facilitate the quality of the month-end and year-end close;

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of all the Bank’s products & services;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data and provide data driven solutions;
  • Ability to critique and suggest solutions;
  • Self-starter with excellent planning and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the statutory and regulatory landscape in Banking across SADC;
  • Good understanding of financial accounting and reporting processes;
  • Good knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements;
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact with all levels of the organization; and
  • Strong MS Excel skills

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce or any data related degree
  • ACCA/ICAM/ACA or any recognised accounting professional qualification
  • Registered member of a recognised professional body
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience
