The Greenbelt Authority (GBA) is a Parastatal organization established under the Greenbelt Authority Act No. 23 of 2017. GBA’s main objective is to champion the development of large-scale commercial irrigation farming with the aim of accelerating socio-economic transformation through increased agricultural productivity, agro-processing and easy access to markets.
GBA has some vacancies and invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the positions. The posts are tenable at GBA’s Head Office situated at Mwai House, City Centre, Lilongwe.
Job Title: Financial Accountant – Readvertised
Grade: GBA 4
Responsible to: Finance Manager
Responsible for: Assistant Accountant
Purpose: To provide effective and efficient financial accounting services to GBA
Main Duties
a) Designing, reviewing and monitoring expenditure controls
b) Preparing cash flow forecasts
c) Monitoring revenue collection, receivables, expenditure and payables
d) Reviewing journals
e) Reconciling bank accounts and conducting stock taking
f) Liaising with creditors, debtors, Auditors and internal customers on financial matters
g) Preparing timely Value Added Tax returns, Tevet levy and Gratuity Accruals VAT claimable returns
h) Keeping safe financial assets and accountable documents.
i) Reviewing audit schedules
j) Maintaining Fixed Asset Register
k) Allocating work and appraising staff.
Qualification and Experience
Degree in Accounting or related accounting field plus professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA plus at least five (5) years’ experience in busy accounting environment.
