DAI

Overview

About DAI

DAI is an international development company. For more than 45 years, we have worked on the frontlines of international development, tackling fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. Currently, DAI is delivering results that matter in some 80 countries. Our development solutions turn ideas into impact by bringing together fresh combinations of expertise and innovation across multiple disciplines. Our clients include international development agencies, international lending institutions, private corporations and philanthropies, and national governments.

Objective of the Programme

DAI Global UK LTD was awarded the Scottish Government (SG) funded Climate Justice Communities – Malawi (CJC Malawi) operating in Karonga, Salima, Phalombe, Machinga, Zomba, Neno and Chikwawa. The CJC is inherently linked to wider SG policies including gender and international development.

For CJC, we will embed principles under the Gender Equality Act 2014 and OECD-DAC Gender Equality Policy Marker.

CJC will respond to these policies by empowering the most marginalised groups. Based on local contextual analysis, we will examine structures, institutions, formal and informal rules to understand how these intersect and influence practices and norms, particularly those which disadvantage certain groups.

We aim to understand unequal power relations and inequalities experienced by individuals based on their social identities. Our needs assessment will analyse the constraints that perpetuate exclusion, and we are working with local delivery partners (LDPs) to catalyse transformational change. We will integrate equality and inclusion across project design, delivery, reporting and communications
