FINANCE OFFICER

A career opportunity has arisen in our organisation for the position of Finance Officer.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Smallholder Portfolio for Tobacco and Groundnuts from all stages, inventory, sub ledgers and accounting processes. This role also ensures timely and accurate financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Key responsibilities include: –

• Supervise and manage smallholder farmers portfolio, reporting including liaison with banks and AHL.
• Work collaboratively with the field teams, Logistics Controller, and other relevant teams to ensure the seamless integration of farmer financing with agronomy operations calendar.
• Maintenance and update the loan portfolio database to support the assessment of grower qualification criteria each season, managing the company’s risk exposure.
• Address and resolve any issues related to smallholder loan portfolio.
• Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations.
• Liaise with the Logistics Controller to ensure that Agronomy inventory is properly managed.
• Managing intercompany transactions
• Support external and internal audit processes by providing necessary documentation and information.
• Collaborate with the sales team to consolidate monthly sales data, align it with customer sales orders, and reconcile sales figures monthly.
• Coordinate quarterly Inventory Counts.
• Plan, Coordinate and reconcile quarterly and cycle inventory counts.
• Review the performance of Inventory counts and recommend for areas of improvements.
• Manage and review other Inventory subsidiary ledgers and reconcile sub ledgers and their corresponding clearing accounts

Qualifications, Experience, Attributes, Skills and Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or its equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial accounting, reporting and inventory management.
• Professional membership with ICAM or ACCA.
• Wide knowledge in dispute resolution.
• Analytical thinking ability.
• Self-motivated with excellent verbal and in written communication skills.
• Well organized, detail oriented, and accurate.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
