JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: Finance Officer – Lilongwe

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in the maintenance of accounting records, review and verify invoices and related documents
for completeness and accuracy.
2. Verify payment vouchers and receipts in respect of all payments and receipts, and ensure
transactions are appropriately posted to journals, ledgers, and other records for management
appropriate reporting.
3. Track expenses and prepare daily expenditure analysis and creditors reports for management
action.
4. Assist the Finance Manager in preparing Accounts as well as financial records for both internal and
external audits.
5. Maintain an up-to-date filing system for ease of retrieval and reference.
6. Assist in the preparation of general ledger and Bank reconciliations timely.
7. Analyze and reconcile account transactions appropriately and timely.
8. Assist the Finance Manager in the appropriate Management of staff payroll.
9. Ensure accurate, up-to-date and thoroughly reconciled Management information system (such
as Fin Financials) and report any inconsistencies or anomalies to Management in good time.
10. Assist in timely preparation and processing of member deduction schedules, proactively check
and address any errors or omissions.
11. Timely respond to staff, SACCO members, and other stakeholders’ inquiries.
12. Produce daily banking summaries for all deposits and receipts.
13. Carry out annual payment of dividends and ensure complete and appropriate dividend
reconciliations.
14. Assist to undertake routine internal checks for compliance with policies, procedures and relevant
laws.
15. Assist to market the Sacco products and services.
16. File statutory returns for compliance.
17. Any other duties assigned by Management from time to time.

Key competences

  • Understanding of Financial Cooperative business model
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to produce financial Accounts and other analytical information.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Experienced with Accounting software.
  • Great interpersonal skills and customer service.
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good attitude, Team player and ability to adapt quickly.
  • Highly meticulous and attentive to detail.
  • Must be a registered member of ICAM

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, from a recognized University with at least 2 years relevant working experience in financial or related industry.

Those with Diploma in Accounting or Finance, with at least 4 years’ relevant working experience in financial industry, can as well apply.
