NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA)

The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) is a statutory Corporation mandated to register and regulate operations of Non-Governmental organizations in Malawi. To deliver on its core mandate, the institution is now looking for dynamic and well versed individuals to fill the following seven (7) middle level staff posts:

JOB TITLE: FINANCE MANAGER (1)

Grade: NG 3 Office
Location: Head Office
Directorate: Corporate Services
Reporting to: Director of Corporate Services
Supervision to: Senior Accountant

Job Purpose

To develop financial strategies, oversee accounting and finance division, make investment decision and ensure efficient and effective collection, management and utilization of the Authority’s financial resources and assets.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervise the preparation of annual financial statements by generally accepted accounting principles for audit;
2. Supervise the preparation of financial audits and audit schedules;
3. Supervise in the management of audit processes and ensure prompt implementation of audit recommendations;
4. Periodical review of financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems;
5. Approve journal vouchers and other journals related transactions;
6. Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts;
7. Ensure financial transactions are prepared by the Authority Finance Policy and Procedures Manual;
8. Analyze and monitor financial transactions to ensure compliance with the approved budgets and report to management;
9. Assist in the development and managing of Authority budgets by Government requirements and the Finance Policy and Procedures Manual
10. Manage existing accounting systems and internal controls and ensure that they are effective and efficient to achieve authority strategic a. A minimum of aB achelor’s objectives;
11. Approve bank reconciliations of all bank accounts;
12. Manage the finance team to achieve authority financial goals;
13. Monitor bank balances every week if they meet the action plan;
14. Assist in resource mobilization

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in in Accountancy from a recognized university
  • Master’s Degree in Accountancy or business administration
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA (Malawi).
  • Must be a registered member of Institute of Certified Accountants in Malawi (ICAM)
  • Three years working experience
