FINANCE MANAGER

Applications are invited from qualified, experienced and self-motivated candidates to fill the above position.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Registered certified accountant; must be holder of either C.P.A., ACCA, ACA or any other equivalent professional qualification.

  • At least ten years post-qualification experience, preferably in the insurance industry/Finance Industry regulated by Reserve Bank of Malawi.

  • Competency in use of computer accounting packages (preferably integrated insurance industry software).

Responsibilities and Duties:

Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the job holder will be responsible for the development and achievement of financial objectives to meet the Company strategy in management of funds. The Finance Manager forms part of the Senior Management Team and oversees the financial and administrative function of the Company.

The responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop Financial Guidelines for the Company

  2. Prepares and submits periodic reports on disbursements to enable and guide the MD to make timely and quality decisions to achieve set objectives

  3. Preparation of financial statements for audits and oversee the auditor work and submission of audit report

to Management.

  1. Prepares statements of expenditure budget for the Company and institutes budgetary controls to ensure the Company payments are maintained within approved budgets

  2. Checks and verifies all payments and ascertains that all payments are accompanied by authorized supporting documents and that they are duly approved and in line with payment procedures

  3. Facilitates internal and external audit exercises by providing relevant information so that audits are completed within stipulated time

  4. Preparation of Annual Plans for the Management of funds

  5. Monitoring objectives and policies for finance as agreed

  6. Evaluation of financial decisions, risk management strategies and manage relations with both local and international Banks

  7. Conversant with Company Secretarial work and able to act as secretary to various Board Committees.

  8. Ensure accurate and efficient management of payment processing systems Maintain accounting records and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as per regulatory requirements.

  9. Complete financial management; including development and implementation of internal control systems.

  10. Preparation and implementation of budgets.

  11. Deal with internal and external auditors to prepare re-insurance returns and management reports.

  12. Preparation and submission of returns to RBM, MRA and any other competent authority.

Remuneration:

Attractive remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
