WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Finance team is responsible for all financial functions of the organization, including accounting, payments and banking, payroll support, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. The team objective is to enhance efficiency, provide accurate and complete financial information about our programs and operations, making it easier to forecast future funding needs, and ensuring continuous stability and steady growth of our mission. Working under the direction of the Vice President of Finance, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions and providing financial and administrative support to teammates. Our ideal candidate demonstrates interest in performing day-to-day accounting activities, including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable ensuring compliance with financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.

Specifically, the Finance Coordinator will…

    • Support the fiscal operations, including general accounting, accounts receivable/payable, grants and contributions, cash flow management, tax filing/reporting, journal entries, financial reports/records, and general ledger accounts
    • Oversee the monthly closing processes and global consolidation of transactions from GHC’s countries of operation
    • Support the development and review of the fiscal year budgets and performance projections
    • Assist with the development team to create budgets for grant proposals, financial reports, and analytics to support fundraising and the donor cultivation process
    • Support the financial tracking and cash flow projection of grants funding (grants tracker) and reconcile against the donor database (Salesforce)
    • Administrate payroll in coordination with the People Team.
    • Support annual audit by coordinating with other team members to secure necessary documentation and information
    • Conduct finance onboarding for new staff
    • Maintain organized, accurate, and secure accounting and finance files at all times.

    • You are knowledgeable about financial systems: You have a working knowledge of Sage Intacct or any other financial system is an added advantage.

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required. Professional qualification as a CFA/CPA is considered a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND BENEFITS
This role can be based in Lilongwe, Malawi; Kigali, Rwanda; Kampala, Uganda; or Lusaka, Zambia. You will have the opportunity to work from the office or at home.
