YODEP in partnership with Save the Children International (SCI) is implementing Abwenzi A Ana (AAA) program in Ntcheu District. The program is an integrated approach which mainly focusing on Child protection, Education, Sexual Reproductive Health, Livelihood and Community Mobilization. The main focus of the program is to see all children particularly girls in Ntcheu district who are affected by inequality are protected from sexual violence and exploitation. YODEP is currently looking for suitable, experienced, motivated, talented, and hardworking individuals who have the passion to work with and for the children in the following positions on contract basis.

Job Title: Field Facilitator

JOB ABSTRACT:
The main purpose of this job is timely grass root program implementation, monitoring and documentation of child protection interventions run through child-friendly spaces, case management, and psychosocial support. S/he will also be responsible for data management, capacity building, mobilization, and building capacity of community-based child protection structures and awareness-raising sessions on child protection with community Child Protection Committee (CPC) members. He/She will also manage and ensure there is a great level of partnership and networking with the district child protection leadership. The incumbent will work actively by carrying out special responsibility for children to whom YODEP has a duty of care and creating a safe environment for children to prevent their physical, sexual, or emotional abuse or neglect.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS/PROCESSES AND OPERATIONS

KEY RESULT AREAS AND RELATED ACTIVITIES

  • Mobilize communities to participate in child protection interventions to identify their needs or problems,
    prioritize them and develop a plan for action and implementation using participatory methods that enable
    maximum utilization of local resources, knowledge, and leadership.
  • Provide training and mentorship to community-based structures parents/on child protection issues
  • Facilitate effective collaborative working relationships that add value to the goal and objectives of the program with community-based development agents (extension workers) from the broadest range of development agencies operating in the communities where the programs are being implemented. This includes Children Corners, School Health And Nutrition (SHN) clubs, Girls Solidarity Clubs, Pakachere Clubs
  • Facilitate participatory monitoring and evaluation including (but not limited to) community-managed
    information system and community review meetings to assess progress, quality, and impact of program
    activities
  • Participate in the budget formulation of program activities and manage agency resources at the cluster level in accordance with YODEP policies and procedures.
  • Develop and use monthly implementation plans in liaison with the Project Officer, implementing partners, and sector coordinators. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the supervisor.
  • Work closely with ASRH and education leads to contribute to the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities
  • Work with children protection core groups, adolescent health club patrons and matrons in schools and
    children’s corner counselors, and mother groups, through capacity building and mentorship to support ASRH and livelihood interventions.
  • Collaborate with government extension workers and other relevant stakeholders, key community structures
    including adolescents, mother groups, traditional initiators, chiefs, and the community at large to effectively
    implement integrated child protection interventions.
  • Document activity reports and contribute to the compilation of monthly and quarterly reports
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education

  • Advanced Diploma/in Social Work/Community Development/Public Health or any related field.

Relevant Experience in Years

  • At least two years working in close contact with children and adolescents, their parents, and the wider
    community.

Skills, Behaviors (Competencies), and Knowledge
• Interest in working with and for children/adolescents
• Willingness to live in a rural area;
• Good community skills
• Training and facilitation skills
• Monitoring and Documentation skills
• Strong English writing skills
• Computer skills in Word, Excel, and Internet
• Valid Motorcycle Driving Licence is a MUST
• Good interpersonal skills
