Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.
DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions for the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project which is to be implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts aiming at strengthening access to high quality and comprehensive services targeting adolescent and young people through Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Program under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a project called “Loto Langa” or “LoLa” in short.
The program includes several layers of interventions including Direct service delivery of HIV Testing and Family planning and condom promotion and distribution to for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), Social asset building and HIV Violence prevention of AGYW, Economic strengthening and educational support, Families Matter Program and Implementing the IMPower Program.

Job summary/ responsibilities:
The Families Matter Program (FMP) is an evidence-based intervention for parents and caregivers of 10–19-year-olds that promotes positive parenting practices and effective parent-child communication about sex-related issues and sexual risk reduction. The Subjects to be addressed will include child sexual abuse (CSA) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Many parents and caregivers need support to effectively define and convey their values and expectations about sexual behaviour and to communicate to their children’s important messages about HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and pregnancy prevention. The ultimate goal of FMP is the reduction of sexual risk behaviours among adolescents.
Key Performance Areas
a. Provide day to day leadership in the implementation of the Family Matter activities to parents/care givers and adolescent girls and young women.
b. Organise lessons and sessions about family matters activities
c. Raising awareness about the sexual risks teens face today
d. Encouraging general parenting practices that increase the likelihood that children will not engage in risky sexual behaviors
e. Improving parents’ ability to effectively communicate with their children about sexuality and sexual risk reduction Addressing the difficult issues of CSA and GBV through culturally-acceptable and
f. age-appropriate content and highlighting the key role parents can play in protecting their children from CSA and GBV
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum qualification of certificate in community development or any public health related qualification
  • At least 3 years of experience in community work and community mobilisation
  • Experienced in community mobilisation
  • Experiences in data collection and strong organizational skills
  • Proficient writing and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills
  • Have a valid motor bike driving license and is able to drive
