Key Responsibilities:
Tittle: Faith and Development Lead
Location: Lilongwe Malawi
- Work with People and Culture and Field Office leaderships teams to roll-out of Mission Immersion Programme (MIP) to ensure leaders, staff and board/advisory council members have knowledge and understanding of World Vision’s Core Documents inclusive of Faith and Development policies and grow in the commitments to the same.
- Facilitate new staff on-boarding in ways that places Mission, Vision and Core Values as central to our work.
- Facilitate collaborative processes of equipping staff and leaders to speak confidently about how our Christian faith strengthens our ministry effectiveness.
- Facilitate development, and/or contextualization of staff Christian formation materials, and collaboratively planning and roll-out of programmes for staff spiritual well-being support, [in partnership with the People and Culture team.
- Position WV as a thought leader on development that is holistic and transformational and being able to external dialogues on the same with strategic partners.
- Provide guidance, tools and resources to World Vision staff on holistic mission in the context of work and life as an expression of holistic witness (word, deed and life).
- Adapt Spiritual Landscape Assessment (SLA) and utilize in Focus Groups Discussions with Faith and Traditional Leaders to gather depth of insight on underlying cultural and spiritual norms, values, beliefs and attitudes that inform practices that negatively impact on child wellbeing.
- Analyse, interpret and prioritize data for incorporation in Strategy Landscape report to inform strategic and programming responses to Child Vulnerability.
- Develop or Adapt F&D tools for utilization in annual/periodic Strategy Reviews
- Provide guidance to Technical Programmes, HEA, and Advocacy leads on incorporation of F&D Core Project Models (CPMs) and Spiritual Nurture of Children (SNC) tools in programme designs in accordance to standards set out in F&D Design, Implementation and Quality Assurance (DIQA) tools, with clear objective statements and IOIS mandatory or recommended indicators associated.
- Socialize and apply F&D DIQA recommended monitoring tools to ensure F&D CPMs and SNC implementation is monitored and reported according to mandatory and recommended reach and impact indicators.
- Ensure accurate and timely semi-annual and annual reporting of planned F&D activities and outputs.
- Planned support to Area Programs to technical back-stop F&D implementation across all Area Programmes.
- Lead in collaborative engagements with child focused ministries/agencies in the identification and adaptation of relevant child nurture content, research and develop new content as required by context to enrich Spiritual Nurture of Children (SNC) programmes and activities.
- Lead planning and implementation of context sensitive and age specific SNC capacity enhancement of faith leaders, parents and care givers, children and youth leaders and other volunteers to enable effective facilitation of learning, value formation, life-skills adolescent holistic nurture of children and youth.
- Track the implementation of the 3 F&D Core Project Models (Channels of Hope, Empowered World View, and Celebrating Families) and monitor how these are changing norms, values, beliefs and practices that are barriers to child wellbeing.
- Provide on-going coaching of community level peer support groups to ensure sustainability of SNC programmes.
- Socialize WV Partnering with Churches Policy internally and external for clear guidance on developing partnerships with Church and other Faith institutions
- Develop partnerships with Churches and other Faith institutions based on shared values, trust, and mutual outcomes in consistency with WVI’s Partnering approach recommendations.
- Competently apply the Partnering Cycle in negotiation and management of partnerships, with particular attention the following: Identify and Build, Manage and Maintain, Review and Revise, Sustain Outcomes
- Promote learning and innovation in WV National Office on Faith and Development processes and strengthen utilization of knowledge assets to harness our Christian identity for better outcomes for childrenSpecific Qualifications and Requirements for this role
- Integrity in personal and public life, bearing a track record that is befitting of the role.
- Honours Degree in relevant field such as Practical Theology/Missiology, International Development, Community Development, or related discipline.
- Ability to intersect theological and developmental issues and capable of offering practical guidance that informs strategic directions and operational decisions.
- Appreciation of faith diversity (churches and other faiths), with depth of understanding of major church traditions in the nation, their approach to mission and protocols for engagement with the same [Experience in interfaith engagement required for contexts where there is a significant presence of faiths other than Christianity].
- At least 5 years experience of working with national level Church/Other Faith institutes and leadership and proven record of successful collaboration with Faith leaders in cross cultural settings.
- Consistently demonstrates high-level influence and strategic engagement skills and adaptability to WV’s constantly changing development tactics.
- Knowledge of the World Vision Transformational Development approach, WV project models and operational framework.
- Demonstrated expertise in partnerships especially church or faith partnerships in cross cultural environments.
- Comfortable and confident working in a culturally diverse and inclusive team environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate with all levels of staff and to motivate and mobilize individuals outside their reporting line to achieve agreed strategic plans.
- Basic knowledgeable and abilities in program design, documentation, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Excellent technical/impact report writing skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft products including Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent written and spoken English (or language of instruction in own country, e.g. French or Portuguese).
