Bickia Enterprises
Bickia enterprises are budding companies in agribusiness (Bickia Horticulture Enterprises, with farms in Mchinji and Salima) and soon commencing operations in cement production (Bickia Cement). The two companies would like to employ the positions listed below all based in Lilongwe. The cement related positions are in anticipation of Bickia Cement obtaining a mining licence. The agribusiness company is already in operation.

Exploration and Mining Geologist
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Role Purpose: To support the Enterprise in all exploration and mining projects as well as adherence to industry regulations and operational standards. |
Role and Responsibilities
- Work on work approaches, methods and policies to optimize performance and ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards
- Collect, handle, and process geological samples, mapping and Petrography (cement hydration) analysis for assessment of the mineral deposit
- Plan exploration program for green field projects and develop and update mineral reserve and resource models for estimating reserves and resources
- Oversee geological plan for short term grade control requirements, accountable for accurate and efficient grade control and stockpile management.
- Drive the mining team to achieve constant delivery of run of mine in accordance with mining program plan to meet the quality of raw material requirement of the cement plant
- Proficient in Mining Software for designing of block model of deposit, resource and reserve estimation, preparing mine plan and scheduling of operation for life of mines
- Ensure mine plans are designed, approved and coordinate a streamlined approach to mining operations as per plan.
- Provide inputs and coordinate for safe, economical and environmentally sound extraction of minerals
- Prepare and update reserves, technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements.
- Prepare geological sections and plans plotting on real earth coordinates.
- Generate regional log correlations faces, thickness maps and play fairway maps.
- Review geological field work.
- Prospect risking and resource estimation.
- 3D reservoir static model preparation and reservoir estimation.
- Prepare field appraisal / development plans, Intent to drill and final well reports.
- Opportunity screening and prioritization
- Timely mineral assessments and maintenance of reserve and resource schedule.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in geology, earth sciences, physical geography, geophysics, mining engineering, chemical engineering or equivalent education from a recognized institution
Experience And Skills
- Five years’ experience in geology and geophysics work for exploration and production companies (prospect generation and field appraisal/development)
- Experience in open pit limestone mining and the exposure to cement manufacturing industry will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in mining industry standard software and instrumentation like SPBX, MPBX, Load cell, Piezometer, data interpretation and report preparation.
- Should possess strong communication and leadership skills having innovative ideas.
- Valid practicing license from the engineering institute or mining professional association.
Professional education in occupational health, safety and welfare.
