NON-ACADEMIC STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resoces (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to be considered for the following vacant posts in various establishments of the University.
EVENTS AND PROTOCOL ASSISTANT
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of a wide range of university events, including conferences, seminars, congregations, and official ceremonies.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual requirements, and transportation.
- Provide support in preparing event materials, including programs, invitations, and signage.
- Assist in managing guest lists, RSVPs, and on-site registrations for events.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and communication.
- Create and maintain event timelines and checklists.
- Support the implementation of event protocols, ensuring compliance with university standards and etiquette. Assist in post-event activities, including feedback collection, data analysis, and reporting.
- Provide administrative support to the Events and Protocol team, including filing, documentation, and record-keeping.
- Perform any other duties as assigned from relevant authorities.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- Diploma in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience in event planning and coordination is desirable.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant event management software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events.
- Enthusiastic and creative mindset with a passion for creating memorable experiences.
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor, especially when interacting with guests and stakeholders.
Terms and Conditions of Engagement
All the successful candidates will be engaged on an initial 2-year contract before they can be considered for permanent appointment based on satisfactory performance. Remuneration
will be in line with LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service applicable to staff
on fixed-term contract.
