Environmental Health and Safety Administrators (2)
Background
Based on its operational requirements, Farmers World wishes to recruit highly motivated and qualified individuals to fill in the following existing vacancies which are tenable at Malawi Fertilizer Company in Liwonde and at the Farmers World Limited Head Office in Lilongwe.
Position Purpose
To provide administrative support for EHSS functions, ensuring efficient documentation, reporting, and data management
Main duties
- Conduct, document, and review baseline risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legal and SHEQ standards.
- Coordinate and document monthly SHE communication meetings (First Aiders, Firefighters, SHEQ Reps), ensuring accurate and timely minute-taking and follow-up on action items.
- Review, and update SHEQ procedures and SOPs, ensuring alignment with current best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate accident investigations, document findings, and report on corrective actions to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
- Provide SHE training for staff, documenting attendance and training materials, ensuring adherence to operational control standards.
- Support SHEQ compliance by identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring adherence to all safety policies and work instructions.
- Collect and analyze all performance monitoring data within the area of responsibility, ensuring integration into the Business Unit’s report for quality, performance measurement, and analysis.
- Manage and control all documents, checklists, and forms issued to staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation.
- Initiate traceability exercises, document findings, conduct root cause analysis, and track corrective actions to ensure the closure of all identified issues.
- Develop, document, and review SHEQ procedures, SOPs, and the Compliance Obligation Register on a regular basis to ensure alignment with evolving standards and regulations.
- Implement, and monitor waste recycling initiatives and energy reduction steps, collecting and reporting data to support sustainability goals.
- Compile, document, and submit statutory and audit reports for review, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with governance and legal standards.
- Ensure compliance with external audit requirements, and document findings to uphold governance and safety standards.
- Lead by example to foster a positive EHSS culture, promoting good practices and encouraging collective responsibility for safety and compliance.
- Monitor adherence to EHSS regulations, internal policies, and SHEQ standards, escalating unresolved issues and reporting on corrective actions and incident closures.
Desirable Qualifications, Work experience and Personal Specifications
- Diploma in Environmental Health or Occupational Health and Safety
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a Monitoring and Evaluation or Data management role.
- Strong problem-solving skills and Reasoning
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
