Ethanol Company Limited (EthCo) is a molasses based ethanol production firm located in Dwangwa, a town in the Nkhotakota Lakeshore District of Malawi. Commissioned in 1982, the Company has produced over 380 million litres of ethanol at both 99.5%v/v and 96%v/v ethanol strength. EthCo is the pioneer of Ethanol production in Malawi.
An Opportunity has arisen in the Company in the Engineering Section within Operations Department for the position of Engineering Services Manager.
Applications are invited to fill the vacant post of the Engineering Services Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate shall among other things, be responsible for overseeing the Engineering functions of Ethanol Company.
Key responsibility
The Engineering Services Manager presides over the entire engineering function at EthCo and drives the vision and strategy of the business to ensure maximized asset availability. The Engineering Services Manager leads the Engineering team tackles high level challenges and manages budgets whilst ensuring that the assets are fit for their purpose. He/she collaborates with other business departments to support product manufacturing and projects.
Specific Responsibilities
The Engineering Services Manager shall:
- Develop, implement and continuously improve a risk based plant maintenance system
- Develop monitoring systems which will evaluate plant health and the effectiveness of plant maintenance
- Plan project works including assisting with the implementation of Company projects.
- Ensure overall plant safety and to continuously improve safety behavior, environment and organizational culture
- Ensure continuous development and growth of Engineering Personnel
- Develop and implement the section’s budget
Attributes/Competencies
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical). Membership to the Malawi Engineering Institution is a must.
- Five to ten years’ experience in a similar position in a manufacturing industry
- Proven preventive maintenance track record
- Proven leadership skills
- Expertise in conflict resolution
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written ability
- Proficiency with project management software and related tools including but not limited to MS Project, JIRA, MS Excel, etc.
