Field Officer.

Job title: Early Childhood Development Field Officer

Reporting to: The ECD Program Coordinator.

The Field Officer will be the primary contact person between the program and the communities especially with program participants, local leaders and other To call stakeholders. The Field Officer will facilitate implementation of all program activities on the ground. The ECD Field Officer will also be responsible to ensuring the collection and systematic recording of programme relevant data.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement, document and track all children’s assessments and screenings as required.
  • Support development of program plans, ECD curriculum in line with prevailing govemment guidelines and schedules while ensuring alignment with program design.
  • Implement activities in collaboration with local partners, and train program participants with special focus on ECD, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene including cross cutting issues (gender, HIV and AIDS, climate change mitigation).
  • Support caregivers to develop daily instruction and play programmes (lesson plans).
  • Undertake monitoring of ECD activities to ensure the ECD centers are working following the approved curriculum for ECD in Malawi, to track progress and resource utilization.
  • Promote community resource mobilization to sustain the services and motivate
    caregivers.
  • Facilitate school readiness activities in all the ECD centers to facilitate smooth transition of children from ECD centers to formal schooling and referrals to professional assistance where necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with other local stakeholders in the ECD sector working in the same impact area in order to increase service Inkages and ensure sustainability of services.
  • Ensure staff, partners and other stakeholders comply with child safeguarding policy.
  • Collect and report essential programme data and support establishment of community managed information management systems.
  • Timely submit quality narrative and financial reports related to program activities on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis. These will include case studies/ change. stories (digital storytelling) quarterly.
  • Facilitate and participate in program reviews and planning meetings both at local and national level.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least a Diploma level qualification In Community nursing, Community Development or any other related field. Those with experience in ECD will have an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated 4 years’ experience working with communities in early childhood development, community economic empowerment projects with well- developed community mobilization skills.
  • Excellent training skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English and Chichewa.
  • Passion about ECD, child protection and working with children.
  • Strong report writing skills and experience. Good team work and networking skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially MS word, excel and Power point.
