Job Description

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Assistance facilities Manager be responsible for driving authorized personnel and provide administration support. The driver will also be responsible for maintaining vehicles in good condition and keep accurate records of usage through logbook.

General Tasks

• Ensuring that all vehicles have valid COF and insurances.
• To check the vehicle daily for oil, water, fuel, washer fluid and breakdown kit
• To fill in the log sheets daily and return to the Facilitation Office at the end of each month.
• To record all journeys carefully and all fuel purchased
• Support the office administration.
• Maintaining proper record of inventory of office equipment.
• Providing logistic support during meetings and training.
• To report any problems immediately to the Senior Driver.
• To be available to always drive during duty periods.
• To keep the vehicle(s) clean inside and out.
• To only use the vehicle as instructed and never for personal or commercial use.
• Delivery, picking up and posting mail and other items for the company.
• Any other duties deemed to be reasonable assigned by the Line Manager.

Health and Safety
• Checking all risk areas of vehicles before driving.
• Making sure that checklist is checked and submitted to senior driver on a weekly basis.
• Identifying and reporting all risk areas for all MLW vehicles which may bring accidents even if the vehicle is driven by another driver.

All staff are employed under the MLW Programme and are ultimately responsible to the Programme whether directly employed under the Core Grant, a Research Fellowship or Project Grant. All staff are expected to be flexible and may be required to contribute to the activities of the Core Programme or another project(s).

 

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• MSCE with clean driver’s license
• Defensive driving certificate.
• Certificate in a business-related field.
• At least 2 year’s relevant work experience.
• Those based in Lilongwe will have an added advantage.
