Position Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Officer, the Driver is responsible for transporting Palladium – Momentum Tiyeni staff to all project-related activities, including field visits, meetings, airport pick-ups and drop-offs, and other duties as required by the project. The position is based in Lilongwe.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

– Ensures that all trips are approved and properly recorded in the logbook.
– Actively monitors the mechanical conditions of the vehicle, and arranges regular vehicle maintenance
including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.
– Prepares and submit monthly vehicle fuel/maintenance reports.
– Ensures compliance with government laws on drive speed, parking, and other road safety regulations.
– Ensures that first aid kit, necessary spare parts, and other required items are always available within vehicle.
– Ensures passengers adhere to all road safety regulations.
– Operates the vehicle to assure safe transportation of clients to and from various destinations.
– Carries out office errands, deliveries, and collections as directed.
– Ensures compliance with Palladium’s vehicle driving policies.
– Maintains high standards of customer service to guests.
– Checks that vehicles are properly insured and that all road licenses/taxes are valid.
– Reports all vehicle faults and request for maintenance as appropriate.
– Ensures vehicle is always kept secure, clean, and tidy and in good working condition.

Required Qualifications:

– MSCE or equivalent.
– Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
– Defensive driving license is required.
– Minimum of five (5) years of professional driving experience, preferably within an international organization, government, or private sector environment.
– Familiarity with Malawi traffic laws, regulations, and driving customs.
– Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance and the ability to identify and report issues.
– Fluency in English
