Project Hope Namibia in Malawi (PHN-MA) seeks qualified Malawian candidate to fill various positions for the USAID funded Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo Activity (ANAPA) Project, a project aimed at preventing new HIV infections and improve the health wellbeing and Protection of Children, Adolescents, their families and Young Women (CAFYW) living with, affected by and vulnerable to HIV. ANAPA will be implemented in high HIV burdened nine districts in Malawi (Blantyre, Chikwawa, Lilongwe, Machinga, Mangochi, Mulanje, Phalombe, Thyolo and Zomba). The program focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM). The approach is also including but not limited to System Strengthening, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in close collaboration with Government of Malawi (GoM).

Reporting to: District Team Lead

Duty Station: Phalombe, Blantyre, Zomba and Machinga

Job Summary: The main responsibility of the DREAMS Ambassador is to promote and coordinate the DREAMS [Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)] component of PHN ANAPA in the district she is assigned. Reporting to District Team Lead, the DREAMS Ambassador will also support the meaningful engagement of AGYW in the implementation of the ANAPA.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Map partners working on AGYW programming at the district level.

  • Coordinate quarterly review meetings of partners’ working on AGYW programming.

  • Promote the DREAMS component of ANAPA using various platforms including social media.

  • Educate on, advocate for and champion SRH services including PrEP, contraception options, and post violence care.

  • Foster meaningful engagement of the youth:

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring of the DREAMS component of ANAPA

  • Serve as a member of district level Youth Advisory Committees.

  • Serve as a member of the ANAPA Youth Programming Assessment Committee.

  • Lead program participant consultation to identify barriers and facilitators of DREAMS service utilization.

  • Participate in National AGYW Forums, and regional if need be

  • Participate in Multidisciplinary Team Meetings at Health Facility Level.

  • Attend national and international workshops and conferences.

  • Compile and share reports with the District Team Leader.

  • Any other responsibility assigned by the District Team Leader.

Minimum Qualifications, expérience and required skills :

  • AGYW aged 18 – 30 years who have completed the DREAMS program.

  • Minimum education level of a post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field, degree will be added advantage.

  • Fluent in speaking and writing in English.

  • Able to speak the local language largely spoken in the district of choice.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willing to share personal experiences on use of SRH and HIV services through peer platforms (including social media).

  • Strong passion for advocating for AGYW’s health and rights.

  • Advocate for AGYW in different platforms

  • Being a social media influencer (at least 2000 followers on Instagram or TikTok) or affiliated with youth led organization or served in leadership position as a representative of the youth (e.g., school prefect/head student).
