VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) was established by Chapter 18:09 of the Laws of Malawi by Parliament in 1966 as a humanitarian organization with established presence in all 29 districts.

It is a government subvented organization with a mandate of providing relief and aid to people affected by conflict and disasters through the alleviation of human suffering and improving the quality of life of vulnerable communities.

MRCS executes its mandate through the implementation of relief and developmental activities while disseminating the Movement’s Fundamental Principles. It is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

MRCS is urgently seeking to engage the services of suitably qualified, motivated, capable and experienced individuals to fill the vacant positions which have emerged under the Disaster Management (Climate Change Adaptation Project).

This is a two-year project, ending in January 2026 depending on the availability of project funds. The position details are as follows:

1. DISTRICT COORDINATORS (3) -(Nsanie, Mulanje & Phalombe)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To coordinate all aspects of the Projects’ management at the district. S/he will provide leadership and guidance for the smooth implementation, stewardship and management of project activities, funds, and assets. S/he supervises all staff in the district, and ensure that the use of resources is in line with MRCS regulations and plans.

The District Coordinator is responsible for district level management and successful implementation of the project activities and ensures that the desired outcomes are achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1) Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Developmental Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health or any related field.
2) At least 3 years practical working experience in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation.
