Blantyre District Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons of Malawian Origin to fill the following vacant positions:
Job Title: Disability and Elderly Assistant
Grade: M/M10
Reporting to: Assistant Social Welfare Officer (Grade K)
Location: Blantyre District Council
Age: 21 to 40 years
Number of vacant Positions: 1
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must be in possession of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). Those with Certificate in Social Welfare and knowledge in Sign Language will have an added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sensitizing the community about the disability and elderly rights, roles and responsibilities of duty bearers and care givers.
- Advocating for disability and elderly participation and protection at the community level
- Supporting families with essential information on disability and elderly rights, health and protection.
- Supervise handling of cases of Disability and Elderly at the CVSU.
- Mobilizing communities to establish service points for disability and elderly Protection E.g. Disability and Elderly Committees
- Respect the privacy of people with disability and elderly
- Provide supports and services in a safe and competent manner with care and skill
- Developing community action
