Malawi Institute of Education (MIE)

Malawi Institute of Education (MIE) is a Government semi-sub vented parastatal organization established by Order, Government Notice No. 60, 1979 under Education Act
(CAP. 30.01). The Institute is mandated to design, develop, conduct educational research,
monitor and evaluate the national school and primary teacher education curricula and
provide continuing professional development to education personnel in order to ensure
that education responds to the current and future needs of the Malawian society.

Furthermore, the Institute is mandated to publish and evaluate curriculum materials.
In order to fulfil the aforementioned mandate and vision efficiently and effectively, MIE
invites suitably qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill the vacant position tenable
at the Malawi Institute of Education, Domasi in Zomba District.

1. DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES (M2)

Responsible to: Executive Director
Responsible for: Human Resource & Administration Manager and Procurement Officer
Purpose: To provide strategic direction in the delivery of corporate services

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop, review and monitor the implementation of corporate policies, strategies,
plans and budget related to human resource, administration, ICT, procurement,
maintenance and security services;
2. Establish high level credibility and strong working relationship among staff and
other stakeholders;
3. Enhance human resource, administration, ICT and procurement systems;
4. Analyze periodic consolidated reports and recommend appropriate interventions
to Management and the Board of Directors;
5. Lead in risk management, corporate governance processes and facilitate internal
and external audit exercises;
6. Take ultimate responsibility of the organization’s cash management policies
regarding capital requirements, debt, equity, disposals and acquisitions;
7. Allocate work and appraise staff;
8. Develop and monitor resource mobilization strategies;
9. Prepare regular reports.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or any other relevant field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human
    Resources or any relevant field.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience at senior management level.

Attributes and Skills

  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess planning and analytical skills.
  • Must have a track record of high integrity.
