Vacancy Advertisement – Data Officer (4 Positions)

Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues. MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “To transform lives of Malawians through provision of high quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services” .

With funding from CDC through Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), MACRO is implementing the Achieving HIV Epidemic Control Through Quality HIV Testing Services: The PIVOT Project in southern and central western districts of Malawi. In order to efficiently and effectively execute its mandate, MACRO is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the positions of Data Officer (4).

Location: Mchinji, Ntcheu, and Chiradzulu

Position Overview
The Data Officer will be responsible for data entry and storage; information and knowledge management; reporting and performing data assurance tasks. He/she will also assist in the development of functional databases and lead data audits, data quality and analytics strategies across the organization

Main Responsibilities

    • Assists in planning, development and implementation of an appropriate management information system to handle and capture data for MACRO’s core activities
    • Collects, analyses, interprets and reports data generated from HTS and Care and Treatment project activities
    • Review the quality of the data and perform quality checks to ensure appropriate data collection meets the needs of the evaluation process
    • Perform data quality assurance
    • Assist in implementation of M&E activities and overseeing timely submission of reports
    • Assists in organizing necessary documents, tools and registers for project related activities

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

    • Minimum of Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related qualification
    • At least Two years’ experience in clerical, IT/Automated data capturing, processing analysis and interpretation. In addition, have experience in managing Local Area networks with basic understanding in usage of IT equipment
    • Basic knowledge in Data processing tools i.e. SPSS, STATA, Excel
    • Knowledge of DHIS2 will an added advantage
    • Must have good report writing skills
