Amref Health Africa in Malawi in collaboration with Ministry of Health will be implementing a COVID 19
vaccination campaign under the Saving Lives and Livelihood (SLL) project with support from Africa
CDC using a grant from MasterCard Foundation.

 

 

The campaign will be conducted in Blantyre. Lilongwe and Mzuzu. The project overall objective is to support Africa Union Member States to vaccinate at least 70% of their population with safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines by the end of 2023. In this regard, Amref Health Africa in Malawi is therefore inviting suitably qualified applicants for the following one year temporary positions:

Data Entry Clerk (Blantyre 6, Lilongwe 8 & Mzuzu 4) (Ref/2022/08/013)

The position holders will be working hand in hand with the District Health Offices based in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu. Applicants must clearly indicate the city in which they wish to work and qualifying residents shall be preferred. Reporting to the Project Manager technically and operationally to the District EPI Coordinator; the Data Entry Clerks shall meet the below specifications:

Main purpose of the job
To use the COVID 19 vaccine management system to record all vaccinations given by vaccinators.
Ensure data is entered accurately on the clients record in accordance with practice protocol.

Specific Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in pre and post vaccination sessions debriefs
  • Collaborate with logistics team to secure data management tools, equipment and supplies
  • Record client data in registers
  • Process required documentation and reporting
  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders or optical scanners
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents
  • Update existing data
  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
  • Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost
  • Ensure all queries related to recording the vaccine are resolved in a timely manner
  • Welcome and reassure clients on confidentiality where necessary
  • Participate in ensuring health and safety at vaccination sites (Wipe down chairs/ surfaces/ equipment as necessary)
  • Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
  • Communicate effectively with other colleagues and clients
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors

Requirements and Qualifications

  • MSCE with a minimum of certificate in computer studies/data management or related filed from a recognized training institution
  • Hands on experience on data entry and use of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
  • At least 1 year relevant experience
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work with people from the communities
  • Skilled in the use of standard computer applications such as MS Office
  • Mature, personable/friendly
  • Accountability:
  • Supervision: Work independently on execution of vaccination activities with periodic direct on from team leader.
  • Decision Making: Make consultative decisions on handling of data issues clinics.
  • Responsibility over data or information: Collect all important information as regards to the vaccination sessions.
  • Responsibility over assets: Proper management of materials and equipment under his or her custody.
  • Responsibility: Reporting to Director of Health and Social Services through Chief Preventive Health Officer.
