Blantyre Water Board

Blantyre Water Board is a government-owned institution established and reconstituted under the Waterworks Act of 1995 to supply potable water to residents of the City of Blantyre City and other surrounding areas. Blantyre Water Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant positions:


Applicants must have the following attributes:

  • At least Certificate in Marketing, Public Relations, Customer Care, Front Desk Operations or related field
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education
  • At least two (2) years’ work experience in customer care service field in busy organization
  • Good communication skills
  • Wide Knowledge of customer care
  • Self-starter
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem solving ability
  • Team Player
  • Ability to work at odd hours with minimal supervision
  • Should be patient, polite and hardworking
  • Ability to exercise own initiative and judgment
  • Ability to handle customers effectively and efficiently.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

a) Implementing customer care services, plans, policies and programs
b) Escalating to Customer Service Supervisor on all irregular issues that cannot be handled at his or her level
c) Following up customer service processes assigned to him or her in the customer service systems
d) Logging and processing new connection applications, customer details adjustments and customer complaints in relevant systems
e) Recording of new connections in the ledger book daily and on soft copy
f) Communicating with all relevant sections on customer care issues
g) Recommending possible improvements in customer care service provision to the supervisor
h) Receiving, updating, and giving feedback on all customer service issues
i) Handling disconnected customers and recording in a reconnection file after payment
j) Preparing and submitting reports

) Performing such other relevant and lawful duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time.
