CREDITORS CONTROLLER
Reports To: Finance Manager
Umodzi Holdings Limited (UHL) is a prestigious domestic brand under the name ‘Umodzi Park and Resorts’ (UPR), situated in the heart of Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe. UHL is a 100% Government-owned company that boasts properties like the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), a five-star hotel, and the Presidential Village, which offers world-class accommodation and office rental facilities.
Role Overview:
The Creditors Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing all the financial obligations of the hotel related to accounts payable, ensuring that all supplier invoices and payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing receivables invoice
- Follow up outstanding receivables and Debt collection.
- Conduct regular reconciliation of accounts receivable balances to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Assess the creditworthiness of clients and provide recommendations on whether to grant or withdraw credit facilities based on payment history and risk analysis.
- Compile and submit detailed reports on receivables, providing insights and status updates to management for informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree /Diploma in Financial Accounting or a related field.
- 3 years of proven experience as a Credit Controller in a hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and collections processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and basic knowledge of MS Excel.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant legal regulations e.g. Fair Debt Collection Practices
