Great Entrepreneurship Club (GEC) Limited, a subsidiary of Great Dominion Holdings Limited (GDHL) is a licensed microfinance institution established in 2020 with its headquarters located in Lilongwe at GDHL Complex in New Shire opposite Gulliver whose vision is “to reach out to future and existing entrepreneurs with modern entrepreneurial skills and credit(loans) that will help them start and grow a successful business anywhere in the world. Applications are hereby invited for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacant position of Credit Officer tenable at GEC Limited headquarters.

Purpose of the position

  • To grow and retain a quality loan portfolio by identifying and implementing value adding and specialised financial product solutions from a range of standard and or customised offerings.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Marketing

  • Assist in conducting market research and survey activities to keep abreast with changes in the microfinance industry
  • Solicit new loan accounts in accordance with specified periodic performance targets.
  • Grow the loan portfolio as per set targets in the branch business plan
  • Conduct active marketing campaigns to attract new clients
  • Orient prospective clients about GEC’s loan products.

 

2. Manage Loan Process

  • Compiles and performs credit appraisal on loan applications received from clients
  • Conduct inspection and/ or appraisal of any property being offered as collateral
  • Member of credit committee
    Prepares and presents credit applications to the branch credit committee for approval.

 

3. Manages Portfolio Quality

  • Conduct regular visits to clients and build strong relations with them before, during and after the disbursement.
  • Closely monitors loan repayments and ensure zero tolerance against arrears.
  • Act to support other credit officers in delinquency crisis
  • Administer remainder notices and demand letters to clients.

4. Additional Responsibilities

  • Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Participate in risk management activities of the company
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Community
    Development or related field from a reputable university.
  • At least 2 years credit experience in a microfinance industry.
  • Flexible and resourceful; the ability to work in a fast-growing institution.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, numerical, organisational and reporting skills.
