VACANCY – COUNTRY DIRECTOR

Villages in Partnership International (VIP) is a development organization that works in the rural villages of Sakata, Malawi, partnering with 26 villages and impacting over 21,000 lives. VIP has been in existence for over a decade and has supporters throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. VIP is affiliated to Villages in Partnership USA, a non-profit registered in the USA, responsible for partner development and fundraising. The organization started its operations in Malawi in 2009 working under other local NGOs. VIP was registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act in 2019. The Head Office for VIP International is located in Zomba.

Villages in Partnership International invites applications from suitably qualified Malawian nationals for the position of Country Director (CD), tenable at its head office. The position will fall vacant in September 2024, when the incumbent will retire.

SUMMARY OF JOB

Reporting to the Chairperson of the Board, the Country Director is responsible for the overall management of the operations and resources of the organization. The CD is the point of contact between the Board, Donors, and VIP employees and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works directly with VIP Board and senior management
  • Oversees the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and reviewing of the VIP annual budget to ensure success and sustainability of the organization
  • Maintains a healthy relationship with Donors for VIP to ensure that the organization is supported appropriately
  • Compiles and presents reports to the Board jointly with senior management and board committees
  • Is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and integrating strategic plans of the organization
  • Works with partner organizations, various stakeholders, including government ministries, departments and agencies

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Aged not more than 55 years
  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics or related field
  • Have 10 years work experience with a reputable organization, 5 of which should be at senior management level
  • Experience in a multi-donor funded organization will be an added advantage.
