Job Title: Community Mobilization Officer (2 Positions)

Location: Mulanje and Chikwawa

Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) is part of a consortium of 3 national and 2 international partners implementing a USAID funded MOMENTUM TIYENI project, working with the Ministry of Health and various stakeholders to strengthen health systems and quality service delivery in maternal, new-born, child health (MNCH) in seven districts in Malawi.

Reporting to the MOMENTUM Tiyeni’s District Health Planning and Strengthening Manager, the District Community Mobilization Officer shall lead the planning, coordination and implementation of MOMENTUM Tiyeni’s community mobilization, communication and social accountability activities to promote health seeking behaviours and creating an enabling environment for improved access to and delivery of quality Maternal, New-born, Child Health, Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Nutrition services. Overall, the Community Mobilization Officer shall be responsible for community mobilization, social behaviour change (SBC), and social accountability activities in the assigned district.

The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills. They must be result-oriented and demonstrate capacity to work with government, implementing partners, community health structures at district and community levels. The candidate shall be expected to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health District Health Promotion Officer and the District Community Health Coordinator in their assigned district.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent in Public Health, Health Communications, Behavioral Science, Health Promotion or other related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community mobilization and/or social and behavior change programming and capacity strengthening at district level.
  • Previous experience working on a donor funded project and history with USAID-funded initiatives desirable.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Chichewa
  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills
  • Strategic thinking skills and strong team player abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work remotely, with limited supervision
  • Strong community mobilization and communication skills
  • Ability to work in communities and quickly build relationships
