POSITION: COMMUNITY CASE WORKERS (52 POSITIONS)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Hope Namibia-MA seeks qualified Malawians to be contracted to work for the USAID funded Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo (ANAPA) Project. This project aims at preventing new HIV infections and improve the health wellbeing and protection of Children, Adolescents, their families and Young Women (CAFYW) living with, affected by and vulnerable to HIV. ANAPA is being implemented in 14 health facilities in Mulanje namely Chambe,Chonde, Mbiza, Thuchila, Mulanje Mission Hospital, Mulanje DHO,Kambenje, Mulomba, Mpala, Milonde, Namasalima, Muloza, Chisitu and Mimosa.
The program focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM). The approach also includes but not limited to System Strengthening, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in close collaboration with Government of Malawi (GoM).

CONTRACTOR: COMMUNITY CASE WORKERS (52)

Reports To: Child Protection Workers
Duty Station: Facilities under Mulanje District Hospital

TASK SUMMARY

The Community Case Worker (CCW) is responsible for providing services to children,adolescents, their families, and Young Women (CAFYW) and their parents/caregivers covering all four (4) domains (Health, Safe, Stable and Schooled).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Build unique and trusting relationships with CAFYW and their families.

2. Identify and offer enrolment to eligible CAFYW into ANAPA Activity.

3. Conduct needs assessments, follow up assessment, develop individualized case plans and provide services to the beneficiaries.

4. Conduct regular household visits, facility-based case management and virtual case management as per clients’ needs to provide services covering all four
domains (Health, Safe, Stable and Schooled) to CAFYW within the communities under the health facility catchment areas.

5. Conduct demand creation, screening, counseling, education, mentoring and psychosocial support to a cohort CAFYW and their parents/caregivers.

6. Facilitate linkage to health and socioeconomic services and track referral completion.

7 .Monitor layering of services and readiness for graduation or program completion.

8 .Provide appropriate information to CPW and Data Entry Clerks. Program Officers and M&E officers about project participants who have completed or are due for
graduated from ANAPA.

9. Participate in joint home visits with supervisors to do service provision spot- checks as part of verification, program quality and data quality assessments.

10. Compile and share weekly and monthly reports with the Child Protection Worker and Data Entry Clerks and ANAPA Leadership.

11. Collaborate with CCWs and CPWs to jointly visit all the households that were previously handed over from APA to know their geographical location.

12. Collaborate to develop, agree, and undergo regular performance management evaluation.

13. Any other responsibility assigned by the Child Protection Worker, DSWO and ANAPA Leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

a) Minimum education level of Malawi School Certificate of Education.

EXPERIENCE

a) Two (2) years of experience working as a Community Case Worker (CCW) or delivering community-based health and socioeconomic interventions particularly to OVC or CAFYM and their caregivers/parents.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED.

1. Knowledge of local community dynamics and cultural sensitivity.

2. Proven participatory learning and facilitation skills.

3. Proven record of achieving results.

PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTE

1. Good Communication skills, a good level of written and spoken English.

2.Able to speak the local language largely spoken in the district of choice.

3. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

4. Malawian citizen living in or being from the area/community applied for.

5. S/he MUST be above 18 years and not more than 40 years.

ANAPA will select suitable applicants and contract them as Child Protection Workers and Community Case Workers. The applicants must be residents of the catchment areas mentioned above. This will be vetted by the Community Leaders of the catchment area.
